Two Premier League clubs have forwarded contract proposals to a now-former member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Sergi Roberto as the player in question.

The name of free agent Roberto has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the week to date.

This comes after widespread confirmation was finally forthcoming that the Spanish international does not feature in the plans of new Barca boss Hansi Flick.

Roberto, for his part, had been awaiting a final call from the Camp Nou brass, regarding whether or not he would be offered another 12-month extension to his previous terms.

With as much having now been provided, the 32-year-old, in turn, will set about finding for himself a new club.

And, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, Roberto will not be at all short on suitors.

In fact, as per Sport, the versatile midfielder already has offers on the table from no fewer than three clubs across the continent.

Two such proposals were on the part of Dutch giants Ajax, and Premier League outfit West Ham United.

It is another English club, however, who are understood to be closing on an agreement with Roberto and his entourage, for the campaign ahead:

‘He is attracted to the Premier League, where both West Ham and Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have shown serious interest, and the latter is very close to convincing the player,’ Sport confirm.
