Denzel Dumfries still most likely to sign a new deal at Inter Milan
Manchester United target Denzel Dumfries is still likely to sign a new deal at Inter Milan despite reports to the contrary.
United have made the signing of a right back a priority due to the probable sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka who is of huge interest to West Ham United.
For that reason, Noussair Mazraoui has been targeted and the club have already agreed personal terms with the player as they continue to try and thrash out a deal with Bayern Munich for the Moroccan.
Nonetheless, like most things in transfers, nothing is ever that simple and Inter Milan are said to hold an interest in Wan-Bissaka, and according to reports by The Athletic, a swap deal between Wan-Bissaka and Dumfries is still a “live situation”.
David Ornstein also claimed yesterday that Dumfries was holding off signing a new deal at Inter Milan until the end of the window as he eyed up a move to Old Trafford.
Although these reports are quite different to what is being said in Italy right now.
Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the San Siro side and representatives of the Netherlands right back met yesterday to discuss the renewal of his contract. “There is great availability and desire to continue together.”

This morning’s Corriere dello Sport add to this scepticism over a Dumfries move to England by stating that in spite of the negative news filtering out of England, “according to reports, the Red Devils have not sent Inter any official offer; for this reason, the path of a renewal with the Nerazzurri club until 2028 at 4 million euros per year remains, to date, the most likely.”
“Monday’s meeting between Dumfries’ entourage and management will be repeated shortly to find a solution.”
It is an interesting situation as The Athletic are usually incredibly accurate regarding all things United but Di Marzio is extremely clued in to what is happening in Italy.
It is possible that United maintain a much stronger interest in Mazraoui and are playing games with Bayern Munich to get them to lower their fee for a deal.
Nonetheless, while Wan-Bissaka’s deal with West Ham continues to drag, the Red Devils are incapable of bringing in any right back and with Saturday’s Community Shield match against Manchester City just three days away, it is not ideal.
