Dennis Hildeby Named AHL Player Of The Week, Recalled By Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto Marlies goaltender Dennis Hildeby has been named AHL Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 29.

Hildeby started two games and recorded 1.50 GAA and .957 SP, stopping 66 of 69 shots and recording a shutout in two wins over the Belleville Senators.

The 23-year-old was recalled by the Toronto Maple Leafs hours before receiving the honour, while Matt Murray was sent to the Marlies.

The Jarfalla, Swe., native has a 2-1 record with a 3.68 GAA and .875 SP in the NHL and a 4-2-2 record with a 2.42 GAA and .916 SP and one shutout in the AHL this season.

After Matt Murray allowed four goals on 31 shots against the Washington Capitals on Saturday there is a good chance we see the Maple Leafs give Hildeby another run of games with Anthony Stolarz still out due to injury.

The Maple Leafs play an afternoon game on Tuesday against the New York Islanders before heading to Long Island for a rematch on Thursday.

The Marlies play the Syracuse Crunch on New Years Day before a back-to-back against the Cleveland Monsters on Saturday and Sunday.
