Former Liverpool defender Adam Lewis has bid farewell to his boyhood club after sealing a free transfer to League Two outfit Morecambe.

The left-back was one of several first-team or academy players - including Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara and Adrian - to be released by the Merseyside giants at the end of last month following the expiry of their contracts.

As a result, Lewis' 19-year association with the club - which included five loan spells - has come to an end after making a singular senior appearance all the way back in 2020.

But the defender hasn't had to wait long to land himself a new club as he was one of 15 signings confirmed by Morecambe on Friday after their EFL registration embargo was lifted the day before.

Furthermore, Lewis went on to make his uncompetitive debut for The Shrimps in their pre-season friendly win over Longridge Town on Saturday, playing 76 minutes as he builds his fitness ahead of the new campaign.
