This dedicated fan doesn’t let a day pass without wearing a Kansas City Chiefs logo

Robert Lewis has the championship banners that tip people off that he’s a Kansas City Chiefs fan but it’s his collection of team apparel that elevates his devotion to the team beyond most other fans.

Robert Lewis is a hardcore Chiefs fan. He doesn’t have just a gameday jersey. He has a whole closet dedicated strictly to his Chiefs gear—shirts, jerseys, and hats. Lewis has a Chiefs shirt for every day of the week and more. He doesn’t go a day without wearing something with a Chiefs logo on it.

“It feels like I’m part of the team because I’m such a big fan.”

Walking up to his apartment, you won’t miss which one is his, it’s the one with flags from each of the Chiefs last four Super Bowls hanging from the railing.

The proof is everywhere. His couch is adorned with a Chiefs throw blanket, and on it sits a lineup of over 20 hats, almost as if on display at Arrowhead Stadium’s pro shop.

“I just started buying hats, and now I have one for every day,” Lewis said of his collection.

And then there are the jerseys. With true diehard fan knowledge of Chiefs players past and present, Lewis’s collection is a tribute to the team’s history. From fan favorites like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Derrick Johnson to lesser-remembered names like Daniel Sorensen, Dee Ford, and Spencer Ware, his jerseys tell a story of devotion.

Pulling out jersey after jersey, his enthusiasm is contagious.

“I didn’t even realize I had all this. Man!” Lewis said, catching his breath after several trips to retrieve a seemingly endless supply of Chiefs apparel.

Born in Mississippi in 1958, Lewis found his way to Kansas City a decade later when his father relocated the family in 1968. Today, he is a walking shrine to his greatest love—the Kansas City Chiefs.

Lewis’ Chiefs fandom began with a spark ignited by watching legendary Chiefs quarterback Len Dawson, or “Lenny” as Lewis calls him. “Boy, this is a nice li’l ol’ sport! I was hooked ever since,” Lewis said.

Lewis isn’t shy about sharing what he’s invested in his Chiefs fandom. “Ten grand. For everything. Not all at once. But over the weeks, months, maybe even some years, I’ve accumulated all this. I’m proud of it. And it’s mine.”
