Decision close: Arsenal feel they’re in strong position to beat rivals to first-team signing
Arsenal are reportedly waiting for a decision from Norwegian midfield wonderkid Sverre Nypan after strongly stepping up their interest in the player.
Nypan looks an exciting prospect but it seems Arsenal are confident they can see off competition for his signature due to promising a role in their first-team straight away, according to the Athletic.
The Gunners have been among the clubs working on a deal for Nypan, along with Aston Villa and Girona, according to the Athletic’s report, but it seems they’re confident they’re in a strong position.
Nypan is now back in Norway after his visits to English clubs, so Arsenal are just waiting on the 18-year-old Rosenborg ace to make his final decision, which shouldn’t be too far away now.
Sverre Nypan should surely choose Arsenal
Nypan clearly has the world at his feet, but Arsenal seems like a no-brainer if they’re ready to use him in Mikel Arteta’s first-team straight away.
Opportunities to join such a big name don’t come around that often, and Nypan would do well to look at how Arteta has shown faith in the likes of Bukayo Saka, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly in recent times.
That proves that AFC are serious about trusting and developing young players, so Nypan could continue his very promising career at the Emirates Stadium.
It would also be a chance for the teenager to learn from his fellow countryman Martin Odegaard, who also established himself as a huge talent when he was still basically just a kid, joining Real Madrid when he was still only 16.
From there, Odegaard had to deal with a few setbacks before making it big at Arsenal, and becoming club captain, so he’d surely have some useful tips for his fellow countryman.
