‘Deal agreed’: Man Utd on the verge to complete first January exit – report
Manchester United are on the verge of confirming their first departure of the January transfer window.
The Manchester Evening News have revealed United youngster Ethan Ennis is joining Doncaster Rovers on loan for the remainder of the season.
The 20-year-old was ‘attracting interest from teams throughout the English pyramid and Doncaster have now agreed a deal to take him on loan’.
Ennis has been impressive in the 2024/25 season, bagging ten goals in 15 appearances.
He is predominantly a left-winger but has displayed his versatility by successfully operating across the entire front line.
He netted a hat-trick against Altrincham in a 4-0 win in November.
The starlet showed his ability by finding the top corner twice.
He then used his lethal pace and clinical finishing skills to chip the ball over the goalkeeper.
Ennis penned a two-year deal in the summer with the Red Devils recognising his untapped potential.
A loan move to the League Two side will offer him a great opportunity to play regularly in the first team.
He must seize this chance to impress manager Ruben Amorim, who has a strong appreciation for academy players and has consistently shown faith in them during his successful tenure at Sporting Lisbon.
United have previously used the winter transfer window to send their young players on loan.
They are continuing this strategy with Ennis set to be the first departure of this month.
The club find itself in a tight spot with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and must sell players before they can sign new ones.
Marcus Rashford is heavily linked with a loan exit, with Juventus and Borussia Dortmund expressing interest.
However, AC Milan are believed to be leading the race for his signature.
Casemiro is another high-profile player who could head for the exit door with United waiting for a formal offer from a Saudi Arabian club.
