David Perron Back Playing Hockey Again After Health Scare Of Newborn Daughter
It's good to see David Perron back playing hockey again after the former St. Louis Blues forward missed 11 games for the Ottawa Senators after a health scare of his newborn daughter.
The 36-year-old has been out since Oct. 21, at the time announced as personal reasons, and it was due to a mass that had developed on the right lung of his unborn child, a daughter named Elizabeth, born on Oct. 27.
Perron's wife, Vanessa, revealed in an Oct. 5 post on Instagram, that Elizabeth had developed "a large congenital pulmonary airway malformation," and that the family would need to spend time in Toronto for their fourth child to get the proper treatment.
Perron, who took a leave of absence and missed 11 games after signing a two-year, $8 million contract ($4 million average annual value) with Ottawa prior to the start of training camp, was in the lineup for the Senators on Saturday at the Carolina Hurricanes.
Vanessa Perron posted a photo of their daughter, who is not out of the woods yet, but doing much better.
Perron, who had no points in five games to begin the season with the Senators, has played 11 of his 18 seasons with the Blues spanning three stints, including 2018-19 when the Blues won the Stanley Cup.
