David Moyes speaks for the first time as West Ham win Europa Conference League

David Moyes hailed his history-making West Ham squad as “remarkable” after they lifted the Europa Conference League on Wednesday night.

Jarrod Bowen scored a last-minute winner as the Hammers ended their 43-year wait for a trophy in a dramatic win over Fiorentina.

The result marks a high point for Moyes, who celebrated his 1000th game in management in 2021.

It is the first time the 60-year-old has won major silverware during a managerial career to have seen him work in England and Spain.

Moyes becomes only the third manager to win a trophy for West Ham after Ron Greenwood and John Lyall and admitted Wednesday’s win was the crowning moment of his career.

"I would have to say so,” he said.

“The moments you get to celebrate with your family and win in the last minute of the game, it doesn’t happen often. It can go against you but tonight is a brilliant feeling.

"If somebody had said three years ago when I took the job that you’d avoid relegation and finish in Europe and I’ve said you were mad.

"This competition has been great for us, the players have been remarkable."
