David Moyes makes sensational Everton return

David Moyes has made a sensational return to Everton, 12 years after he left the club to join Manchester United.

Moyes replaces manager Sean Dyche, who was sacked on Thursday evening just a few hours before their FA Cup third round win over Peterborough.

Everton have acted quickly to replace Dyche, with Moyes re-joining the Toffees having previously led them for 11 years between 2002 and 2013.

“It’s great to be back! I enjoyed 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton and didn’t hesitate when I was offered the opportunity to rejoin this great club," said Moyes in an official statement.

“I’m excited to be working with The Friedkin Group and I am looking forward to helping them rebuild the club.

“Now we need Goodison and all Evertonians to play their part in getting behind the players in this important season so we can move into our fabulous new stadium as a Premier League team.”

The 61-year-old enjoyed his greatest success as a coach at Goodison Park, guiding the Merseyside outfit to the Champions League in 2004/05.

Moyes has been out of work since last summer having been sacked by West Ham despite guiding the east London outfit to their first ever European trophy.

Everton are currently 16th in the Premier League, just a point above the relegation places.

His first game will be at home to Aston Villa on Wednesday.
