Date Set for 11th Annual Canes5K

The Carolina Hurricanes Foundation has announced the date for the 11th annual Canes5K: Sunday, September 22.

The 5K will take participants around PNC Arena as well as some of the surrounding area and in addition, there will be 100 and 200-yard dashes for kids as well as inflatables, appearances by current and former players, team staff and Stormy.

Those interested in participating must register for the race at the following link (www.Hurricanes.com/Canes5K).

The current price of registration is $65 until August 23 ($50 for full season ticket members who do not want the complimentary ticket).

5K registration includes one upper-level ticket from a list of pre-determined games which participants can select from, a commemorative t-shirt, a customized bib (runners must be registered by Aug. 24 to guarantee a personalized race bib), a chance to win raffle prizes, a post-race breakfast and those ages 21+ may also receive a complimentary beer after the race.

Kids can also be registered for the Caniac Kids Dash for $20 (the 100-yard dash is for those ages 6 and under and the 200-yard dash is for those ages 7-10) and registration comes with a commemorative kids t-shirt, commemorative race bib, post-race breakfast and a chance to win raffle prizes.

All proceeds benefit the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation to support children’s health and educational needs and the growth of youth hockey across North Carolina.

Event staff will be accepting registration on race day from 7:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. and a smartphone will be needed to register.

Race Day Schedule

• 7:00 a.m. - Limited packet pick-up inside PNC Arena on the main concourse behind the box office

• 8:15 a.m. - Pre-race ceremony and introduction of Carolina Hurricanes players

• 8:30 a.m. - Canes 5k

• 9:30 a.m. - 100-Yard and 200-Yard Caniac Kids Dashes

• 9:45 a.m. - Award ceremony and drawing for raffle prizes

• 10:00 a.m. - Post-race breakfast for all participants

Pre-Race Packet Pick-Up

Runners are strongly encouraged to pick up their packets before the race at the following dates and times at PNC Arena's box office.

• Wednesday, Sept. 18

  • 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

  • 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

• Thursday, Sept. 19

  • 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

• Friday, Sept. 20

  • 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

• Saturday, Sept. 21

Race Awards and Prizes

The top overall male and female runners will receive a trophy, a $500 PNC Arena gift card and a 2024-25 team signed jersey.

In addition, the top male and female runner from each age group outside of the overall winners, will also receive a trophy.

The age groups are as follows:

• 19 and under

• 20-29

• 30-39

• 40-49

• 50-59

• 60 and over

Finally, participants can also create or join teams to fundraise in support of the Hurricanes Foundation.

Teams can be created and joined when registering for the Canes 5k or through the "My Fundraising Page" on the Canes 5k registration website.

The top overall fundraising team that raises a minimum of $2,000 will win 4 tickets to a 2024-25 Canes home game and a 2024-25 team signed replica jersey.

The top overall individual fundraiser will win a prize pack that includes a team-signed replica hockey stick and a player-signed puck.
