Dallas Stars Look For Fifth Straight Win When Taking on New York Rangers Tuesday

The Dallas Stars kick off their road trip with a stop in the Big Apple to take on the New York Rangers. It'll be the first game in a series of five road games that will surely test the strength of the Stars. The Rangers have the worst record in the NHL over their last 22 games at 6-16-0 but they have started to turn things around as of late with wins in two of their last three games.

The wins were over middle to bottom tier teams the likes of the Bruins and Blackhawks but they shouldn't be counted out as the momentum may be building for the reigning Presidents trophy winners. The Stars are rolling heading into Tuesday with four straight wins and they currently ride a season long point streak at six games. The streak will surely be tested as their history versus the Rangers isn't the greatest with losses in five of their last six matchups.

The Stars have also found trouble on the road this season with a 8-8-0 record despite having the ninth-best goals against average and the 13th-best road offence with a 3.06 goals per game average. They will have a good chance to turn the tide on their lack of road success against a Rangers team that has the fourth-worst home record at 8-9-1 and the fifth-worst home offence with a 2.61 goals per game average.

The Rangers have just two players averaging more than half a point per game since mid-December in Filip Chytil and Vincent Trocheck. One player they'll need to get involved will be Mika Zibanejad, who has severely struggled this season with just 24 points in 39 games this season despite being close to a point per game player over the last six seasons. He may be finally turning a corner with a pair of goals and an assist in a three-game point streak that the Stars will need to look out for.

The Rangers will likely have their hands full trying to stop the red hot trio of Matt Duchene, Jason Robertson and Wyatt Johnston. The three Dallas forwards have a combined six goals, 15 assists and 21 points during their four-game winning streak. Robertson will likely be the focal point for New York as he's recorded two goals and two assists for four points in his last six games against the Rangers. New York will look to start veteran Jonathan Quick, who has played decent so far this season with a 2.83 goals against average. He has a solid track record versus the Stars with a 18-12-5 record, a goals against average of 2.38 and a save percentage of .914 in in 36 matchups.

It should make for a thrilling matchup that will be closer than people expect. If you want to check out the game at 6:00 CT on ESPN+ or Victory+ and you can also listen along on Sportsradio 96.7 and 1310 The Ticket.
