Which Dallas Cowboy set a franchise record against the Washington Commanders?

Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey (17) set the Dallas franchise record with his 37th made field goal of the season on Sunday against Washington.

Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey set a franchise record when he made a 34-yard field goal in the first quarter of the team’s 23-19 loss against the Washington Commanders on Sunday at AT&T Stadium.

Aubrey went 4-of-4 on field goals, the longest from 41 yards, and made his only PAT attempt in the Cowboys season finale.

Coming into Sunday’s game Aubrey had the second most made field goals in the NFL behind the Pittsburgh Steelers Chris Boswell (41) and no kicker has made more kicks (14) of 50-plus yards this season than the Notre Dame product.

Aubrey broke the Cowboys’ previous franchise record of 36 which he set during his rookie season. He finished the season going 40-of-47 on field goal attempts, including a career-long make of 65 yards and was 30-of-30 on PATs.

After the game, Aubrey reflected on the success in his first two seasons at kicker.

“Haven’t really had a chance yet to process it, but it’s anytime you’re mentioned in the history books It’s a great feeling. It’s not something I’m actively seeking out, but just shows that they’re giving me a lot of opportunity to succeed and I’m taking that opportunity,” said Aubrey.

The kicker also voiced his support for the return of special teams coach John Fassel and head coach Mike McCarthy

“I think the performance of the special teams unit is something special. Bones is one of the best, if not the best coach in the league for special teams. So I’d want him back,” said Aubrey, “I don’t interact with him much as a specialist, but yeah, [Mike McCarthy’s] awesome for us as players, and always has our backs always kind of brings us together as a unit after wins, losses, whatever it is. He’s a great messenger... I love playing for both McCarthy and Bones.”

With his fourth field goal of the game on Sunday, Aubrey became only the fifth kicker in NFL history to make 40 in a season joining David Akers, Daniel Carlson, Neil Rackers and Boswell.

Aubrey was selected to the 2025 Pro Bowl in his sophomore season following a standout rookie season where he also earned Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors.
