Dallas Cowboy Micah Parsons fires back at critics of his comments on Mike McCarthy

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Micah Parsons explains his recent comments on head coach Mike McCarthy.

Micah Parsons responded on his show “The Edge with Micah Parsons,” after pundits criticized the star for his comments on Mike McCarthy following the Dallas Cowboys’ 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The critique came after Parsons was asked if he thought Mike McCarthy would return next season.

“Mike can leave and go wherever he wants,” said Parsons, “The guys I kind of feel bad for are guys like (veteran guard) Zack Martin who might be on their last year, or on their way out, because that’s who I wanted to hold the trophy for.”

ESPN’s Damien Woody and Rex Ryan had harsh words for the Cowboys defensive star.

Woody asked who Parsons thought he was and pointed out that the star defender had only recently come back from injury and said he was saying provocative things for his podcast.

Ryan was harsher, calling Parsons a derogatory name before adding no coach deserves to be spoken about like that by one of their players.

Parsons responded to both analysts’ critiques.

“A guy like Woody right, a former player, a Super Bowl champ, he should know the significance of one, throwing out somebody’s injury. Like I wanted to get injured that’s blatant disrespect,” Parsons said. “We all have to see through the BS of what these TV analysts are trying to do.”

Parsons reiterated that he never meant to disparage McCarthy, but instead pointed out that coaches have a longer shelf life and take less physical punishment than players like Martin.

“For a guy like Rex Ryan, I just know he wanted to coach the Cowboys, like I’m perfectly happy we have Zimmerman. Because If we had a guy like [Ryan] that’s willing to go on TV and provide this type of nonsense, imagine what he could do to a locker room,” said Parsons.
