Czechia Wins First Leg Of Women's Euro Hockey Tour
The first leg of the 2024-2025 Women's Euro Hockey Tour is in the books with Czechia taking top spot. They were followed by Sweden who was second, Finland in third, and Switzerland fourth.
Czechia capped off their tournament doubling up Sweden 6-3 in a game that would decide the first winner of the season. Natalie Mlynkova got Czechia off to a strong start scoring twice in the first period, while PWHL Minnesota forward Klara Hymlarova also tallied for Czechia. Sweden however would fight back as Sara Hjalmarsson scored twice and PWHL Montreal's Lina Ljungblom added one to tie the game at 3-3. Defender Andrea Trnkova regained Czechia's lead before the second period was out.
In the third, PWHL Toronto's Noemi Neubauerova gave Czechia insurance before Minnesota's Denisa Krizova scored into the empty net.
Finland Beats Switzerland For Third
In what turned out to be a fight for third place, Finland edged out Switzerland 2-1. Viivi Vainikka and Susana Tapani had the goals for the Finns while Rahel Enzler scored for the Swiss.
