preseason games in canada. And you know, one of them said something along the lines of, I know this is going to be my last game. You know, I hope that that is able to now make it out too. The more you know, coming from outside of and getting that opportunity to watch wnba not just on the tv year and but now in person as well. Ok, natalie, thank you very much for joining us today. Thank you for having me. >> Not only have run is a wnba writer with the next. Well, the U.S. department of justice today filing a sweeping anti-trust lawsuit against ticketmaster and its parent company. Live nation accusing the entertainment giant of running an illegal monopoly over live events in the u.s.. >> Allege that to sustain this dominance. Live nation relies on unlawful anti-competitive conduct to exercise its monopolistic control over the live events industry in the united states. And over the fans, artists independent promoters and venues that power the industry. >> In the lawsuit, the justice department accuses live nation of using a slew of tactics, including threats in retaliation to suffocate the competition to maintain its stranglehold on the live entertainment industry. Now canada's competition bureau says it is aware of the U.S. lawsuit, but can't confirm whether or not it will be conducting its own investigation into live nation. The competition bureau is required by law to conduct its work confidentially. Well, the conservatives going at the liberal government in during question period today over affordability. It comes after food banks. Canada released its poverty report card yesterday showing the high cost of living and housing are pushing more people below the poverty line. >> After 9 years, this ndp-liberal prime minister is not worst. The homelessness. And hunger. He doubled the debt. Increased taxes and caused inflation. Said it was all to fund generous programs that would end homelessness. Homelessness is 38% and a quarter of canadians are skipping meals because they can't afford them. That's because he's greedy government is consuming every saying canadians earn. Why is the ndp and liberals forcing canadians to feed this morbidly obese government instead of feeding their >> Mister speaker, we will take no lessons from the voting against those supports 10 dollar-a-day childcare early. >> Food banks canada says one in 10 canadians now live in poverty up substantially from a few years ago. The federal government is introducing legislation that would extend canadian citizenship by descent b on the first generation. The proposed legislation will extend citizenship by descent beyond the first generation in a way that is inclusive and upholds the value. >> For citizenship. >> Bill c 71 would automatically confer citizenship to persons born or brought to a canadian parents who was also born abroad prior to the legislation coming into force. It would also restore citizenship to the so-called lost canadians. Individuals who lost her never acquired citizenship as a result of previous legislation. >> The bill is really in response to an ontario superior court decision that was made back in december. 2023 and the court made a very important finding. The court found that the current citizenship last before the spill was tabled or in fact, discriminatory because they violate section 15 equality rights under the canadian charter of rights and freedoms. >> The laws had voting been put in place by the conservative government in 2009 in response to evacuation of canadian citizens. But the situation in lebanon at the time. A major medical breakthrough to tell you about. And for the first time, researchers are using artificial intelligence to help identify rare genetic disorders in children. For more on this, let's bring in ctv's renee rodgers. Renee, this is amazing news. Tell us a little bit more about it. >> High roger, it really is amazing. We've I write research

papers, we've seen it compose music. But now researchers at the children's hospital of eastern ontario or cheo, as it's often referred to, are harnessing the power of a eye to help diagnose children and youth who may have an undiagnosed rare genetic disease. There are about 6,000 rare genetic diseases and they are not always diagnosed immediately. In fact, it can take years for people to get a diagnosis. But now researchers at cheo have developed an algorithm and they call it think rare essentially what it does, it will scour through all the electronic medical records at the hospital and it flags children who may possibly have a rare genetic disease. That child is then referred to get genetic testing. Now one of the children who I have this genetic testing was flagged. And then how the testing was anthony with staff. He's a 10 year-old boy, he'd been in and out of hospital his entire life. No clear diagnosis, though, to the health issues that he was facing now through this new technology, doctors have discovered that he has something called chong jansen syndrome. And his father says this diagnosis has been a game-changer. Take a listen. >> It is a rare disease that is about only 400 people in the world known with this disease right to know as we speak and he's actually the first one they noticed with this disease and north america and all that takes to heal. And now we can actually. But the rest your questions and know exactly what. Anthony have. >> And roger, not only can a clear diagnosis help get the child on a path to treatment, but it can also open other doors. For example. And the school was able to apply for and receive government funding, then they use to help address some of his specific needs. >> And what I love is what to cheo is doing with this ai with what they've created here. The sharing. >> Yeah, that's, that's right. There's no I plan to monetize this. Cheo wants to essentially give it away for free to any other hospitals who want to see it, which could mean that we could be seeing this, you know, far beyond ottawa. It could be across canada and even across the world. And cheo says it's very exciting because this is what is going to get the diagnosis sooner for children and then get them on the path to treatment rather than what can happen, which is children are ping pong through the medical system, just trying to come up with a diagnosis. And sunny, for example, have been to 100 outpatient appointments at without a clear diagnosis. So very exciting and new technology, which we could be seeing more and more watcher. Alright renee, thanks for that update will come ctv's renee rodgers. >> A new study finds mercury levels in the water near grassy narrows first nation in ontario have gotten worse.
