So one of the motions going on at the meeting tonight, that's on the agenda is that kindergarten through grade 6 will have to have their cell phones put away out of sight in on silent for the entire school day when it comes to high schoolers and middle schoolers. That's where it remains unclear. >> At this time, so motion is going to the school board meeting tonight, asking that the superintendent of the vancouver school district come forward with a plan in policy, some place by july 1st. We have just over a month until that decision will be made. But this is something that will be sweeping the entire province in every school district will have to have a plan in place ahead of the school year for 2024 in 2025. And because you know, better then many who claimed to have more don't you o what integrity is? >> Protest organizers say they plan to hold their ground in hopes of forcing the school to meet their demands. I mean, there was a rally this morning to show solidarity for the people of palestine, but also the people here at this encampment and I would say hundreds of people turned out for this rally. There's a lot of support now, it's pretty peaceful. That rally has wrapped up as you can probably see behind me, the encampment is still here. No one is packing up despite the university asking protesters to dismantle the encampment. And then as you noticing got notice of eviction on friday. It's pretty peaceful here, though. I once packing up seems as though no one is leaving. And protesters and students have been telling us they're not leaving until the university meets their demands. There's 3 key demands. The university has given students on offer last week. And it they students a seat at the table when it came to negotiations, when it comes to investments and the transparency of the university's investments. But the students say that's not exactly what they wanted. They more from the university. The university has not met those demands. They say they will not cut ties with israel universities. And so as a result, those students say that they're not leaving. And as you mentioned as well, now the university has issued bought. I filed for an injunction rather and were just waiting now to see won that court hearing is going to be obviously other schools have gone that same path and it's taken a couple of days for the court hearing to actually happened. Ladhani is on the story and has more for us again, very rainy where you are. Tell us. >> What happened over the weekend, what people are saying today at the rallies. >> Well, todd, good afternoon. Yeah, it was a very a different start to the school day for the young girls that attend this elementary school here in north york based was column entry school. >> What happened over the weekend was that it saturday around 5:00am. There are reports of gunfire that took place. We spoke to a rabbi today who said he actually has security video where he can see individuals coming up to the security fence firing shots and then driving away, not going to put a frame just for seconds. You could actually see the security fence. This is a part of the security measures that were installed in the school a couple of years ago after the school received a grant from the federal government. The grant was given to communities that are and and heightened risk for hate crimes. And so they were able to install this fence. They also have armoured glass at the windows. And so and it was at 5:00am in the morning on saturday. And so no one at the school. So there were no injuries. But today and this morning's a solidarity gathering. I was really to show a sign of support, not only to those in the school, but also the entire jewish community and many people. You heard at the education minister speak there, the mayor of toronto, olivia chow was here. Also a police chief, myron demkiw as well. >> Ctv's rahim ladhani just outside of a jewish school that was hit by gunfire over the weekend. Thanks for this. Really good to see you as always. Meantime, a parliamentary committee in ottawa meeting today to discuss growing concern about anti-semitism in our country. The committee is expected to hear from a number of voices, including the presidents of several canadian universities. The committee will discuss antisemitism, including on university campuses as well as additional measures that can be taken to protect the jewish community. Thousands of people from fort nelson, bc finally allowed to go back home today. >> I'm relieved because it's it's looking like the initial stages of of this fire. The safety concerns that we have have been mitigated. >> As welcome news, of course, about 4700 people were forced out of their homes and it has been a long, long wait. People heading back are being told to gas up first and to bring with them a few days worth of food and supplies. The parker lake wildfire is still burning out of control and people in fort nelson are being warned that it is possible. They me need to leave once again at a moment's notice. We know that car theft is a huge issue, particularly in ontario and quebec. In an update, police in ontario sharing the results of a major auto theft investigation. One that actually began in october of last year. Peel police, which is a big region outside toronto say this was a highly orchestrated criminal operation. We're responsible for the theft and then the transport of stolen vehicles.
