Crystal Palace 1-1 Man Utd LIVE! Olise goal - Premier League result, match stream and latest updates today
Manchester United’s nine-match winning run came to a halt after Michael Olise’s stunning stoppage-time free-kick earned Crystal Palace a 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag’s side were on course to go second in the Premier League table after Bruno Fernandes’ first-half opener.
But Olise’s late strike means they now head to leaders Arsenal on Sunday eight points adrift and missing key midfielder Casemiro, who will be suspended after picking up a fifth booking of the season late on.
United debutant Wout Weghorst nearly opened his account for his new side, directing a first-half header over the crossbar, while a brilliant stop by David De Gea denied the hosts from taking a first half lead.
Casemiro’s booking rules him out of Sunday’s game at Arsenal.
Fernandes handed the visitors the lead just before the halfway point, and United seemed poised to make it 10 wins in a row in all competitions before Olise levelled.

Arsenal the winners as Crystal Palace leave Man United in disbelief
22:30 , Jonathan Gorrie
On a night where Manchester United extended their unbeaten run to the 10 games, Erik Ten Hag was still left shaking his head.
And you can hardly blame him either, as in the final stages of this game against Crystal Palace his side were dealt two hammer blows.
First, in the 81st minute, Casemiro was booked for a wild lunge that sent Wilfried Zaha tumbling to the floor. It was the Brazilian fifth booking of the season and he will now crucially miss Sunday’s match at Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Ten Hag was left shaking his head after that, perhaps frustrated he hadn’t taken the midfielder off sooner.

Casemiro to MISS Manchester United’s huge Premier League clash with Arsenal
22:29 , Jonathan Gorrie
Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow ahead of Sunday’s clash with Arsenal.
In what had felt like a potential title-decider at the Emirates Stadium, Erik ten Hag’s side – who dramatically missed the chance to go second in the Premier League by drawing with Crystal Palace on Wednesday night – will be without the services of Casemiro.
The Brazilian picked up his fifth booking of the season during the closing stages of the game at Selhurst Park and will now be forced to sit out of the trip to north London.

A good goal by United but Fernandes had far, far too much time there in the box. He steadied himself and had the luxury of picking his spot. Vieira won’t be happy.

Patrick Vieira sends transfer warning as Crystal Palace boss looks for firepower
19:25 , Jonathan Gorrie
Patrick Vieira says Crystal Palace must be “really smart” to compete with their rivals in the transfer market and warned lavish spending sprees like Chelsea’s are making life harder for the Premier League’s smaller clubs.
Vieira is looking to strengthen his squad this month, with the Eagles on a poor run of four defeats in five League games.
In particular, the Frenchman is desperate to improve his forward line, having watched his side fail to find the net in any of those four losses, but admitted securing his leading targets will be a challenge midseason.
Gordon Strachan: Fans criticising Wout Weghorst signing don’t know much about football
19:20 , Jonathan Gorrie
Speaking to Football Odds and Betting, former United midfielder Gordon Stachan backed debutant Wout Weghorst to succeed for the club.
“The signing of Wout Weghorst isn’t a waste for Man United. The fact is that most football fans don’t understand most things about football. All they really want to see are shots and tackles. If I went to any ground and asked the fans what system their team were playing, they wouldn’t have a clue. All they want to see is their team winning.
“Weghorst had a good goalscoring record at Wolfsburg. He went to Burnley and only scored a couple of goals but Burnley didn’t score goals at that point anyway, they were getting relegated so he has to be in a team that will create chances and Man United will do that. He will give them alternative options, that’s for sure.
“Long-term, I’ve no idea how it’ll work out but the fans have to trust Erik ten Hag.”
Man United takeover: Sir Lewis Hamilton not involved in Sir Jim Ratcliffe bid
19:09 , Jonathan Gorrie
Seven-time Formula One world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton is not currently active in Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s move to buy Manchester United.
Ratcliffe has entered the bidding for United as one of the UK’s richest men looks to complete a takeover of the club he supported as a boy.
The 70-year-old has a reported net worth a £12.5billion thanks to the success of global chemical company INEOS, which is principal partner and one-third shareholder of Hamilton’s Mercedes team.
Hamilton, 38, formed part of Sir Martin Broughton’s failed bid to buy Chelsea last year, but subsequently bought a stake in NFL franchise Denver Broncos.
Ratcliffe meanwhile invested in Mercedes in 2020, has attended a number of races and grown close to Hamilton - who holds the record for the most wins in Formula One.
When asked about Ratcliffe’s potential United takeover at last September’s Dutch Grand Prix, Hamilton said: "Jim is part-boss and part-partner. I’d say we’re more partners because we’re in this together.
"I hope in the future to do something with Jim and build with him. I don’t know when that will be or what that will be.
"But I do want to get more and more involved in teams because I really do believe in black ownership and black equity, because there is a real lack of that in sport."
However, the PA news agency understands that Hamilton is not currently involved in the bid.

Alan Smith tells Man United to keep Aaron Wan-Bisska amid Crystal Palace interest
18:48 , Jonathan Gorrie
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a target for Crystal Palace but has come back into the starting lineup at Manchester United.
Speaking to NewsCasinoUK, former United star Alan Smith urged the Red Devils to keep the defender.
“Wan Bissaka has done really well, and I know that Dalot was playing until his injury after Ten Hag came in,” he said.
“I think defensively he’s looked really solid but that both players give the manager different options. Wan Bissaka is very good defensively but maybe doesn’t give us as much going forward as Diego does. Anybody going back to their old club always wants to do well.
“He’s still a young player in the grand scheme of things and playing to Man United is a massive task, and once you do lose a bit of confidence and have a few injuries, it is difficult to regain that form and that self-belief. I think he’s got that from the new manager, got his self-belief back. The competition for places is a big thing too, and he’s also learning from Dalot.”
Weghorst sends bullish message as Man Utd man eyes short-term success
18:40 , Jonathan Gorrie
Wout Weghorst says he has unfinished business in the Premier League as the forward gears up for his Manchester United debut.
The Dutchman signed a short-term loan deal at Old Trafford after cutting short his temporary spell with Besiktas, who he had joined from Burnley in the summer.
United’s January move for Weghorst surprised the Netherlands striker as much as onlookers, with the 30-year-old saying it was “special moment” to find out about the interest from his agent.

Problems mounting for Vieira and stale Crystal Palace amid bad run
18:16 , Jonathan Gorrie
Patrick Vieira expects to face a “different Manchester United” to the one Crystal Palace beat on the final day of last season, when the two sides meet at Selhurst Park tonight. More worryingly, Palace look like a different side, too.
Wilfried Zaha’s goal and 1-0 victory capped a fine debut season for Vieira in the Palace dugout, a 12th-placed finish secured and the safety and pragmatism of Roy Hodgson’s reign replaced by swagger and progress more swiftly than most had imagined possible. There had been a trip to Wembley for an FA Cup semi-final as well.
But as the Eagles prepare to welcome Erik ten Hag’s resurgent side, Vieira is experiencing perhaps the rockiest patch of his tenure so far. Palace have taken just three points from their last five League games, beating plummeting Bournemouth 2-0 on New Year’s Eve, have failed to score in any of the four defeats and exited both domestic cup competitions during the same period.
The club is paying the price for failing to properly back Vieira in last summer’s transfer window, when only four signings were made, two of them free transfers in back-up goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and Derby’s teenage winger Malcolm Ebiowei.

Billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe confirms interest in Man United takeover
18:14 , Jonathan Gorrie
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, one of Britain’s richest men, has confirmed his interest in buying Manchester United.
The 70-year-old’s chemical firm Ineos announced they had formally lodged an interest with United’s current owners, the Glazer family.
The American ownership has proven vastly unpopular with supporters since their arrival at Old Trafford in 2005 and were publicly criticised by Cristiano Ronaldo during an explosive interview with Piers Morgan in November.
Hours after the star forward was released from his contract, the Glazers then confirmed they would consider selling the club, announcing they would mull over “all strategic alternatives, including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions”.
Crystal Palace boss Vieira reveals Conor Gallagher transfer latest
17:50 , Jonathan Gorrie
Patrick Vieira has played down a potential return to Crystal Palace for Conor Gallagher.
The England international enjoyed a brilliant loan spell at Selhurst Park last season but has since struggled for first-team football at Stamford Bridge.
Gallagher was included in England’s World Cup, thanks largely to the performances he put in for Palace, though has been handed only ten starts across all competitions this season.
Standard Sport understands the 22-year-old is attracting loan interest from both Palace and Newcastle, although it is understood Gallagher would prefer to stay at Chelsea unless he is forced out.
Gordon Strachan backs Man United for win at Crystal Palace

“I think Rashford will extend his goal-scoring form and Ten Hag’s side will breeze past Palace.”
Head to head (h2h) history and results
17:37 , Jonathan Gorrie
United have won only three of their last eight games against the Eagles, with their last three meetings yielding a combined two goals.
Crystal Palace wins: 10
Draws: 12
Man United wins: 39
Prediction: Man United to win 2-0
17:32 , Jonathan Gorrie
Woe betide any team coming up against United right now, Ten Hag’s side have that happy knack of both playing well to win games and winning games when they’re not playing well.
Boasting such a mean defence, they are still vulnerable to Palace’s creativity but the lack of a clinical touch about the Eagles is likely to stunt their chances of a point or three.
Man United to win, 2-0.
