Crystal Palace forward Elise Hughes has signed a new two-year contract with the club with the option of a further year.

The Eagles announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

Hughes joined Crystal Palace in summer 2022 as the club turned full-time professional. The player has gone on to score an astonishing 22 goals in 42 appearances in the Barclays Women’s Championship. Hughes netted 16 of her goals last season as Crystal Palace won the Barclays Women’s Championship title. The forward ended the campaign as the league’s top scorer.

The 23-year-old will miss the first half of this season with an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury but she will be hoping to continue from where she left off once she returns to fitness.

After retaining Hughes’ services for at least two more years, Crystal Palace’s Head of Women’s Football, Grace Williams said “We are delighted that Elise has extended her stay with us by signing a new two-year contract. Her contributions were invaluable last season, and she played a key role in our promotion to the WSL.

“We will continue to work with her though her rehabilitation process, and look forward to seeing her return to the pitch when she is fit and ready to do so.”

Hughes becomes the fourth player to sign a new contract at Crystal Palace this summer.
