Cristiano Ronaldo shuts down transfer rumors, '1,000 percent' chance to stay at Juventus

For Juventus fans worried about Cristiano Ronaldo potentially jumping ship in the wake of their early exit from the UEFA Champions League this week, they need not fret.

After helping claim the Serie A title for his club on Saturday, Ronaldo affirmed that he will be staying with Juventus next season.

Reports circulated out of Italy earlier this week that Ronaldo was “left furious” after losing to Ajax in the quarterfinals of Champions League, and that he was looking for an exit after just one season on a four-year contract at Juventus that runs through 2022.

The Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported on Thursday that "It's unlikely CR7 will stay until the end of his deal. Next season may well be his last in Italy."

At age 34, Ronaldo’s career may be entering its twilight years soon, but he still remains one of the most sought-after players in the soccer world. With Juventus’ Serie A title on Saturday, Ronaldo becomes the first player to win the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A championships — the respective top titles in England, Spain and Italy.

The former Real Madrid star signed with Juventus last summer for a reported $117 million and recorded 26 goals in 38 matches this season, helping the Italian team claim the Supercoppa Italiana along with the Serie A title.

“I’m really happy that I won the Italian title in my first season,” Ronaldo said. “Of course, it did not go well in the Champions League, but there is next year.”
