Cristiano Ronaldo linked with move to Ligue 1 giants following French football jibe
Not for the first time, Cristiano Ronaldo (39) took a swing at French football last month. However, in the wake of his latest jibe, the veteran Portugal international has been linked with a move to Ligue 1.
“[The] Saudi League is better than Ligue 1, of course. France only has Paris Saint-Germain. The rest are finished,” said the Portugal international at the most recent edition of the Globe Soccer Awards.
That comment mirrors similar remarks made at the same awards ceremony one year prior. Ronaldo is nearing the end of his contract with Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr and the question of his future looms large as he approaches his 40th birthday.
Since those denegrating comments about Ligue 1, the striker has in fact been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, who may be in the market for a striker, either this month or in the summer, as per reports in France. However, Fabrizio Romano understands that, as things stand, PSG are not in talks to sign Ronaldo.
