Craig Bellamy has been appointed as the new Wales head coach.

The 44-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the Football Association of Wales after he emerged as their first choice candidate to replace Rob Page, who was sacked last month.

Bellamy leaves Burnley to take the job, where he was assistant manager to Vincent Kompany and was wanted by new boss Scott Parker, but the allure of managing his country proved too much.

The former striker, who made 78 appearances and scored 19 times for Wales as a player, missed out on the job in 2018 to Ryan Giggs but will now be in charge for the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.

The former Cardiff City man’s first game will be a Nations League friendly against Türkiye on September 6th.
