Cowboys QB Dak Prescott will reportedly miss multiple weeks with hamstring injury

The Dallas Cowboys will have to play without their starting QB for at least a few games. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Dak Prescott will miss "multiple games" after injuring his hamstring in Sunday's 27-21 defeat against the Atlanta Falcons.

Prescott went down with the injury at the end of the third quarter. He initially felt a pull in his hamstring, but "didn't think much of it."

"Then the next play, I felt a pull. That's something I never felt. It was tough to walk on it at that point," Prescott said after the game. He didn't return for the fourth quarter and was replaced by backup QB Cooper Rush, who will start in Prescott's place.

Pelissero reported that the Cowboys (3-5) have yet to decide whether they'll put Prescott on injured reserve, but the injury is "worse than expected."

The Cowboys have had a disastrous season so far, and injuries to key players like Micah Parsons and DaRon Bland have played a role in that. And losing Prescott on top of that, even for a few weeks, makes it less likely they'll be able to pull themselves together. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones has hinted that the team could be active before Tuesday's trade deadline, but that may be the football equivalent of putting a Band-Aid over a major wound.
