Couple allegedly buys ‘fake’ sunscreen and finds out too late while on vacation

A couple was horrified when they were convinced they bought “fake” sunscreen while on vacation.

TikToker @laurentyler13 shared photos from her trip to Thailand with her boyfriend. She alleged that a bottle of sunscreen was mislabeled and just had moisturizer inside. The couple figured it out when they, of course, got badly sunburnt.

“Me and my boyfriend, having the time of our lives in Thailand, until we bought fake suncream,” the caption read. “Imagine putting fake suncream on a baby or child.”

According to @laurentyler13 it was “just regular lotion sold in a sun cream bottle.” On the first day of their trip, the couple used the whole bottle of sunscreen and were only out in the sun for two hours in their swimsuits.

But every inch of them that wasn’t covered by their clothing became completely red and sunburnt. She said she even developed blisters on her shoulders.

“OMG! This happened to us a few weeks ago. Go to Watson’s or Boots. I don’t trust any others,” a person wrote.

“Two hours in direct sunlight when you are both so pale is a big mistake,” another said, but @laurentyler13 replied, “Pale people deserve a holiday, too. Honestly, we have been here a week constantly applying.”

“I’ve heard about this happening before, and I think it happened to a child,” someone added.
