Could The Senators Be a Landing Spot for Primeau?
The Ottawa Senators called up both of their AHL goaltenders. Anton Forsberg has been out and Linus Ullmark may have a back issue. Call me crazy but it seems like the Senators could claim Primeau so one of their AHL goalies can go back down and the problem is temporarily solved.
The Senators have a chance to make the playoffs and the Canadiens could end up helping them get through a tough spot this season. A lot of teams have to deal with short-term injuries in a season and Primeau is healthy so this makes some sense. It’s fun to watch the waiver wire if you’re a writer even through the holiday roster freeze.

Primeau will benefit from a change and if he gets a game or two could prove himself to yet another team that may pick him up, and then the Senators can make a decision on keeping three because of health concerns or waiving him again when the time comes. It’s not an ideal situation but it’s happened to goalies before.
Goalies always seem to get extra chances. There are so few with NHL experience and that’s a big reason why. It’s a specialized position and the Senators options are limited.
The next 24 hours will be interesting. At first, I thought no team would want Primeau and he would pass through waivers to Laval. Now with this situation, it makes me think that there’s a chance. I didn’t think that a few hours ago but here we are.
