Yup.

You read that headline correctly, the Toronto Argonauts made a huge splash (come on, I had to) Wednesday by inking a man nicknamed “Poop.”

Don’t worry — the details of the signing are coming in a moment. But first, we have to get the burning question out of the way: Why that nickname?

Back in 2014, Johnson was transferring to the University of Kentucky following two years at ASA College in Brooklyn, New York. Following his very first practice with his new squad, the defensive tackle was part of a legendary interview with LEX 18’s Alan Cutler about why his weight seemed to be so inconsistent.

“I guess because I poop so much,” he bluntly explained. “I try to poop, like, five times a day, three times a day. It’s hard to keep weight when you’ve got so much going out.”

At the very least, you have to appreciate the dude’s honesty.

However, since that moment, the nickname has stuck.

The good news for the Argos is that Johnson isn’t a complete turd on the field.

Following a crappy season which saw Toronto post a CFL-worst 4-14 record, the 26-year-old joins a refreshed Argos defensive line. The native of Columbia, South Carolina played 25 games over the last two seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. During that time, he picked up 28 defensive tackles and five sacks.

On top of that, during the summers of 2016 and 2017, he spent time with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons and Kansas City Chiefs.
