CorSera: ‘Champions League comeback’ – Milan must ‘win at all costs’ vs. Parma
AC Milan are back in league action at San Siro as they take on Parma at San Siro in the early-kick-off, hoping for what would be a big three points.
This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) speaks about the ‘Champions League comeback’. At 12:30 the Rossoneri will host Parma, a game they must ‘win at all costs to climb the table and get closer to fourth place’.
With Juventus having had their unbeaten league start ended by Napoli last night, and with Bologna having drawn against Empoli, there is once again an opportunity there for Milan to gain points on the teams directly above.
Then there is the other game being played: the mercato. The No.1 target is Santiago Gimenez and the directors have already presented an initial offer of around €30m, but Feyenoord have rejected it because they want a figure of between €40-50m.
Milan already have a verbal agreement with the player over a contract until 2028 and a new offer is being prepared, even if there is unlikely to be a turning points before Wednesday when the Dutch team will play against Lille for direct qualification to the Champions League round of 16.

While waiting for news from Holland, the Rossoneri are preparing for today’s game. There is no room for failure, and the three points are absolutely needed to close the gap towards the Champions League places, also taking advantage of the fact Lazio play Fiorentina tonight.
Milan cannot fail against the Gialloblu and for this reason, despite the decisive Champions League match at home to Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday and then the Milan derby next Sunday, Sergio Conceiçao will rely on the best team, including Youssouf Fofana. He is one yellow from suspension.
