Corrie's Vinta Morgan reflects on forgotten EastEnders role

Coronation Street star Vinta Morgan has looked back on playing a small role on EastEnders.

The actor debuted on Corrie in 2021, with his character Ronnie Bailey relocating to the cobbles after walking out on his wife and business partner Kat.

Years before Morgan first appeared on the ITV soap, he had a short stint in BBC One's EastEnders as PC Phillips. It was 2005, and the star played a ten-episode arc in connection with the disappearance of teens Demi Miller and Leo Taylor.

"It was a while ago! It was a story where a kid was in trouble and I was a police officer who went above and beyond," Morgan confirmed to Inside Soap.

"It was about 10 episodes, but of course it was no comparison to Corrie, the pinnacle of soap TV!" he then joked.

"Obviously, they're both massive TV institutions, so I felt lucky to work there, but I do love it here at Corrie."

On the cobbles, Ronnie recently had a scuffle with Tim Metcalfe following a misunderstanding.

Tim, played by Joe Duttine, got the wrong end of the stick when he believed his wife Sally (soap legend Sally Dynevor) was having an affair with Ronnie, and punched the latter before he could explain.

While there was nothing going on between Ronnie and Sally, he was definitely interested in her former sister-in-law Debbie, portrayed by Sue Devaney.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX. EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
