Coppa Italia quarter-final draw complete: Inter-Lazio, Milan-Roma and more
After the conclusion of Inter’s 2-0 victory over Udinese in the Coppa Italia Round of 16 on Thursday night, the quarter-final line-up is now complete, including mouth-watering ties between Inter and LAzio and Milan and Fiorentina.
Here is how the Round of 16 went down.
Coppa Italia Round of 16 re-cap
Bologna and Milan were the first two teams to book a slot in the quarter-finals.
Vincenzo Italiano’s side recorded a 4-0 win over Monza on December 3, while Paulo Fonseca and the Rossoneri cruised past Sassuolo with a 6-1 win on the same night.
December 4 saw Empoli triumph over local rivals Fiorentina. The game went straight to penalties after a 2-2 draw over 90 minutes. La Viola were playing just a few days after Edoardo Bove’s scary on-pitch collapse against Inter the weekend prior.
Then, on December 5, Lazio beat a heavily-rotated Napoli side by a margin of 3-1 thanks to a hat-trick from Tijjani Noslin.
This week saw Juventus qualify for the Coppa Italia quarter-finals with a 4-0 win at home against Cagliari, with goals from Dusan Vlahovic, Teun Koopmeiners, Francisco Conceicao and Nico Gonzalez.
Wednesday night saw another four teams in action, and two Serie A sides up against lower-league opposition.
Atalanta defeated Cesena by a 6-1 scoreline, and were two up within the first eight minutes. Davide Zappacosta, Charles De Ketelaere, Lazar Samardzic and Marco Brescianini provided the goals.
Roma followed Atalanta with a 4-1 defeat of Sampdoria thanks to Artem Dovbyk, Tommaso Baldanzi and Eldor Shomurodov’s efforts. Roma’s victory means that there are no longer any Serie B sides left in the competition.
Then, on Thursday night came Inter’s 2-0 Coppa Italia win at home against Udinese, which came after goals from Marko Arnautovic and Kristjan Asllani, the latter directly from a corner kick.
