Conor McGregor agrees to boxing bout with Logan Paul in India
Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Former UFC champion Conor McGregor plans to battle Logan Paul in a boxing bout in India, he announced Tuesday on X. He also shut down chatter about a potential MMA match with Ilia Topuria.
"The rumors of a bout with Topurio are false," McGregor posted on the social media platform. "I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India.
"I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon." That's the UFC cage with walls made of chain-link fence coated with vinyl.
McGregor, 36, appeared in one previous boxing bout, a 2016 loss to Floyd Mayweather. That bout ended with a 10th-round TKO. His last MMA bout was a 2021 TKO loss to Dustin Poirier.
McGregor, who broke his leg in the loss to Poirer, was set to return in June for a battle with Michael Chandler, but withdrew from that UFC 303 meeting because of a foot injury.
Paul, 29, participated in four exhibition boxing bouts, including a draw with Mayweather, draw and defeat to KSI and a win over Dillon Danis.
