Connor McDavid gives terminally ill Oilers fan 'best day ever'

Rheanna Trepanier is a 10-year-old from Edmonton currently fighting terminal brain cancer. She was diagnosed with the disease earlier this month after she fell sick on Halloween and needed three surgeries in a 12-day span following the discovery of four brain tumors. That’s when doctors broke the sad news that she has only months to live.

Knowing that, Rheanna created a bucket list, hoping to knock off many by Christmas. One of those things was to meet the captain of her favorite hockey team, Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers.

After stories on Global News and in the Edmonton Journal made the rounds over the weekend, Rheanna received a visit from a special guest on Monday just before her chemotherapy and radiation treatments began.

McDavid also presented Rheanna with a signed jersey.

There’s still plenty left for Rheanna to do, according to Sarah Kraus of Global News:

In a Facebook post following McDavid’s visit, Rheanna’s aunt, Chelsea McDonald, wrote that the little Oilers fan said on Monday that “today was the best day ever.” It will only get better as there are also plans to attend Saturday’s game against the Anaheim Ducks.
