Connor McDavid Becomes A Legend With Historic Performance
EDMONTON -- Generational.
That is an apt way to describe the Edmonton Oilers captain, the one and only Connor McDavid.
On Thursday night, he put away his 1000th NHL point in front of a home crowd inside Rogers Place. Two of his teammates, Darnell Nurse and Leon Draisaitl, earned the assists on the impressive milestone.
Those two were also groomsmen at the captain's wedding this past summer.
This night, they were teammates supporting McDavid in reaching an impressive milestone. The most remarkable part about the milestone is how old McDavid is and how fast he did it.

In one fell swoop, he became the fourth fastest player to score 1000 points and the fourth youngest player.
Only Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and Mike Bossy have done it faster. Gretzky, Lemieux, and Steve Yzerman were the only players to record 1000 points at a younger age.
Draisaitl said it best the other night in his post-game scrum:
"We're not talking greatness; we're talking legendary."
McDavid has now etched his name alongside legendary players like Lemieux and Gretzky. The only question left on everyone's mind is, how long until he hits 2000?
