This Connor Bedard Stat Shows Just How Good He'll Be

Connor Bedard

The Chicago Blackhawks have a star in Connor Bedard. The 2023 first-overall pick lived up to the hype in his rookie season and he won the Calder Trophy as a result.

This season has been a little rough so far for him but it has been rough for the entire team. He has 3 goals and 12 assists for 15 points for 19 points. He wants to score more goals but his playmaking ability has been right where it needs to be.

That level of production would be really good for a lot of players in the NHL. However, more is expected of him with all of the hype he's had.

With that in mind, there are going to be ups and downs. Most prospects in the NHL take time before they become those true superstars. Bedard has been no exception.

One stat is there that makes Bedard look incredible though. He is only the 4th Blackhawks player to ever have 50 or more career assists as a teenager. He collected numbers 50 and 51 in Tuesday's loss to the Anaheim Ducks.

Eddie Olczyk had 80, Patrick Kane had 65, and Bobby Hull had 53 as the other three. There is a chance for Bedard to challenge all of those numbers as he doesn't turn 20 until the off-season. With his current assist rate this season, there is a chance.

People are doubting his ability to turn into that elite player that he had the potential to be. The fact that he's in the same company as some of the greatest Blackhawks ever when it comes to his numbers is a sign of what's to come.

It was Bedard's shot that made him one of the most anticipated prospects in NHL history. He has shown the ability to snipe in the NHL but it is his playmaking that has stood out the most.

Having 50 assists as a teenager is impressive. It won't be long before he has more than 50 assists per season. That may even come this year which would mean that he put up historic numbers for a rookie Blackhawk.

In no time, Bedard will be one of the top players in the NHL. He's already the top guy on his team and he's only just begun.
