Confirmed Line-ups: Man Utd vs Liverpool – 3 big changes for Red Devils, Amad dropped
Manchester United welcome arch-rivals Liverpool in today’s Premier League clash at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils suffered a late 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend. They will be aiming to make amends against Arne Slot’s side.
Liverpool are just one of two teams with a perfect start to the campaign and United will be keen to end the streak with a victory of their own.
United shared the spoils in the league meetings last term, but they beat Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-final after a dramatic late Amad goal in extra-time.
Ahead of today’s Northwest derby, manager Erik ten Hag has made three changes to the starting line-up.
Andre Onana starts in goal as usual with Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot continuing in the right and left-back positions respectively for the third game running.
However, there is a change in the heart of the defence. Matthijs de Ligt has been handed his full debut and he will partner Lisandro Martinez. Harry Maguire drops to the bench.
Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo will be United’s central midfielders with Bruno Fernandes featuring from his customary number 10 role as Mason Mount is injured. Joshua Zirkzee will make his full debut up front.
Out wide, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho have got the nod on the left and right wing respectively. Amad has been unfortunately dropped despite his goal at Brighton.
Confirmed Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1): Onana; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot; Casemiro, Mainoo; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Zirkzee.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have gone unchanged from the recent win over Brentford.
Alisson starts in goal with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson in the full-back positions. Virgil van Dijk will be partnered by Ibrahima Konate in the heart of the backline.
Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister will make up the centre of the park with Dominik Szoboszlai in the number 10 role. Mohamed Salah and Luiz Diaz start out wide as usual.
Diogo Jota will feature as the main striker ahead of Darwin Nunez.
Confirmed Liverpool line-up (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Jota.
