Completing The MacKenzie Blackwood For Alexandar Georgiev Trade In NHL 25

Our second NHL 25 trade simulation in the past two days, we are back today with a goalie swap between the Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks.

The Avalanche sent goaltender Alexandar Georgiev, forward Nikolai Kovalenko, and two draft picks to the Sharks for Mackenzie Blackwood, Givani Smith, and a pick.

Blackwood is the highest-rated play in this trade at 83 overall. Georgiev comes in at 82. Both Smith and Kovalenko are 79 overall.

When we proposed the trade as San Jose the Avalanche denied the deal but said we were not too far off from providing fair value.

Alternatively, when proposed the deal as Colorado the Sharks enthusiastically accepted the deal.

NHL 25 cannot factor in the dissatisfaction Colorado clearly has with Georgiev at this point, but his 82 overall rating and the second round pick were enough value for the game to think San Jose comes out ahead in the deal.
