Yahoo Sports Kim Cattrall just threw shade at Sex and The City, despite AJLT cameo
In perhaps the most shocking news of the 21st century (ok we're being dramatic, but definitely this year) Kim Cattrall is confirmed to be returning to Sex and The City, with an appearance in the upcoming season of And Just Like That.
Er, so why is this so shocking? Well unless you have been living in a rock (or aren't SATC obsessed) Kim Cattrall has previously stated she would never return to the series, telling Variety it was a "no" when they asked her if she would ever return last year.
Many fans online have theorised this is in part due to Cattrall's relationship with Sex and The City lead Sarah Jessica Parker. However, Cattrall has clarified she didn't want to return as she felt there wasn't enough progression for the character of Samantha.
With her return to the series this month, many fans have been reflecting on her relationship with SJP. So what are the rumours of an alleged feud between the pair? After it was confirmed Kim Cattrall will be returning for a special cameo appearance in And Just Like That season two, many fans hoped (prayed) there could be a chance of Kim returning as Samantha in future episodes. However, it seems Kim is still throwing shade at the original series.
Last Wednesday (5th July) Evan Ross Katz shared a tweet of an image of Shakira wearing that iconic dress with a three dimensional NO. Katz captioned the image: "Kim Cattrall after reading the SEX AND THE CITY 3 script."
To which Kim replied: "HA!!!".

Katz's tweet was in reference to a previous interview done by Cattrall where she expressed her disappointment for the script of a potential Sex and The City 3 movie.
Telling Variety in 2022 Cattrall said of the script: "Why can’t Samantha, who owns her PR company — maybe she had to sell it because of financial woes? 2008 was tough. Some people are still recovering.
"She had to sell it to some guy who’s wearing a hoodie, and that’s the dilemma she has. I mean that’s a scenario that was kind of off the top of one of my reps’ heads, and I thought that’s a great idea. That’s a conflict. Instead of an underage boy’s …
"I would have preferred for all of us to have some kind of event to warrant a third film. That didn’t happen. But also, I was ready. And this is exactly what I wished for: to be in different places playing different characters because I’m a character actress."
Er, so yeah it doesn't look like another appearance is on the cards.

After six years of filming Sex and The City together, the four women from the cast Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis attended the Emmys.
However, many people were quick to notice Kim did not sit with her co-stars.

Whilst appearing on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, Kim addressed rumours that a pay dispute lead to Sex and The City ending.
Kim told Jonathan: "I felt after six years, it was time for all of us to participate in the financial windfall of Sex and the City. When they didn’t seem keen on that, I thought it was time to move on.”

In major news for fans, the first SATC movie was preparing to film, however it was alleged the process was taking longer than expected due to salary negotiations with Kim Cattrall.
Kim however, later clarified this wasn't the issue during an interview with The Telegraph, and instead explained she had been dealing with a divorce, the end of SATC and her dad being diagnosed with dementia.
She said: "I was going through a divorce and my job of seven years was coming to an end. Then my dad was diagnosed with dementia. So I took a step back and returned to Canada, where my family is—that’s the reason behind it. It wasn’t all about the money.”
Sarah Jessica Parker addressed the rumours too, telling The Telegraph, "She mentioned money and no one should vilify her for it. People made a decision that we had vilified her.”

During the filming for SATC 2 Sarah Jessica Parker appeared on the cover of Elle, where she discussed her relationship with Kim, saying: "I don’t think anybody wants to believe that I love Kim. I adore her. I wouldn’t have done the movie without her. Didn’t and wouldn’t.”

Kim also dispelled rumours of a feud during an interview with the Daily Mail, where she called Sarah "fantastic" and that the pair were "sick" of the rumours of them not getting along.
She told the publication, "I think Sarah was right: people don’t want to believe that we get on. They have too much invested in the idea of two strong, successful women fighting with each other. It makes for juicy gossip and copy.
"The truth of us being friends and getting along and happily doing our jobs together is nowhere near as newsworthy.
"I think Sarah is fantastic. She is a born leader and she guides the crew and the cast in such a strong but gentle way. She and I are sick of this. It’s exhausting talking about it, and a real bore. Next?"

During an interview with Time magazine whilst promoting her new show at time Divorce, Sarah Jessica Parker once again addressed the narrative surrounding the alleged feud.
She said: "It was always so heartbreaking to me that there was this narrative about Kim and myself because it just didn’t reflect anything that happened on that set. They just didn’t do it to the Sopranos guys. It was so strange to me and upsetting.
"I posted something on Kim’s birthday and people were like, ‘Oh my god, I didn’t know you liked her!’ What? We were all at liberty to walk away at any time! But nobody asked those questions of shows with men. Isn’t that interesting?”

It was heartbreak for fans in 2017, when it was confirmed a third SATC movie wouldn't be happening.
As the news broke a Daily Mail story claimed Kim's "demands" were the reason the project didn't go ahead.
Kim commented on the allegations, strongly denying it with a statement on Twitter: "Woke 2 a @MailOnline 💩 storm! The only 'DEMAND' I ever made was that I didn't want to do a 3rd film....& that was back in 2016."

A few weeks later the New York Post ran a story alleging of "mean girl" culture on the set of Sex and The City.

Following the news there would be no third SATC movie, Kim appeared on Piers Morgan's Life Stories where she dropped some major bombs.
She revealed she and SJP had "never been friends", adding, "We’ve never been friends. We’ve been colleagues, and in some ways, it’s a very healthy place to be.
She also added no one from the cast had reached out to her when reports of the third movie being cancelled were shared, "Nobody ever picks up the phone and tries to contact you and say, ‘How you doing?’ That would have been the way to handle it. This is, it feels like, a toxic relationship."

After Kim's revelation she was never friends with SJP, Sarah appeared on Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Live, where she shared how she reacted to Kim's comments.
She told Andy, "I found it very upsetting because that’s not the way I recall our experience. It’s sad, but I always think that what ties us together is this singular experience. It was a professional experience, but it became personal because it was years and years of our lives, so I’m hoping that that sort of eclipses anything that’s been recently spoken.”

Just a few days later Kim's brother suddenly passed away and SJP shared her condolences to the family.
However, Kim wasn't there for Sarah's words and shared a statement on Instagram, saying she didn't need her "love or support at this tragic time".
She then went onto caption the post, "My Mom asked me today ‘When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone? Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now.
"Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already). You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona."

During an interview with People, SJP went onto clarify she believed there was no animosity between the pair when they were filming Sex and The City.
She said:
"I never talked about it, except [to say] that some of us were disappointed [about the movie not happening]. But I never responded to the conversation Kim had with Piers Morgan, where she said things that were really hurtful about me. We had this experience and it was amazing, and nothing will ever be like it.
"We had a connection with an audience, and we had a connection with the city and with this crew, and we got to tell these crazy stories with each other. So I don’t want to mess with that. I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing that part.
"So there was no fight; it was completely fabricated, because I actually never responded. And I won’t, because she needed to say what she needed to say, and that is her privilege.”

Once again, SJP clarifies in an interview there was no feud between the pair, telling Vulture:
"I have never uttered an unkind, unsupportive, unfriendly word, so I would love to redefine it. I also want to remind everybody that there were four women on the set and I spent equal time with all of them, so this was not a set with two women who didn’t get along.
"I’ve always held Kim’s work in high regard and always appreciative of her contributions. If she chooses not to do the third movie, there’s not a lot I can do to change her mind and we must respect it. That’s the only thing I’ve ever said about it, you know?”

A source told E! News the reason Kim didn't return for a third Sex and The City movie is because she didn't like her storyline.
They claimed: "Kim never wanted to really do the movie to begin with. It was a combination of not great money and a bad storyline for Samantha. It was a bad script.”

It was the news that broke the internet - SJP confirmed SATC would be returning as And Just Like That, without Kim.
Whilst promoting the teaser for the new season, SJP received a number of comments about Kim and responded to one fan that said the reason Kim wasn't part of the new series was because "they dislike each other".
SJP replied: "No. I don't dislike her. I've never said that. Never would. Samantha isn't part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do. X 💙."

Following the news of the new series, according to Entertainment Tonight, Kim Cattrall reportedly liked a tweet about her absence in the series, which read: "I absolutely love Sex and the City and whilst I am saddened that Samantha will not return, I applaud doing what is best for you and think this is a great example of putting yourself first. Well done, @KimCattrall 💖💖💖.”

After months of anticipation the first season of And Just Like That dropped and immediately addressed Samantha's absence by saying she had set up her PR firm in London.
In the show, SJP's character Carrie said the pair weren't friends anymore after Carrie stopped wanting Samantha to be her publicist and subsequently Samantha stops returning the group's calls and texts.

Though Kim Cattrall doesn't directly comment on the new series, she does like a series of tweets about her absence, including one hilarious one which says: "Kim Cattrall didn’t return to SATC because her scatting career is finally taking off.” LOL.

During an interview with Variety about And Just Like That, Sarah Jessica Parker said she would not be happy for Kim Cattrall to return to the series.
She told the publication, "I don’t think I would, because I think there’s just too much public history of feelings on her part that she’s shared."
SJP also confirmed they did not ask Kim if she wanted to be involved in And Just Like That.

A few months later Kim is interviewed by Variety, where she also confirms she was not asked to be part of the series and that there was a storyline for the third film which involved her receiving unwanted dick pics from Miranda's underage son Brady, which she was not interested in filming, calling the idea "heartbreaking".
During her interview she was asked if she would ever return to And Just Like That, if asked to which she said it was a "firm no".

Whilst appearing on the The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast SJP once again addressed her "feud" with Kim saying it was very "painful".
She said: "It’s very hard to talk about the situation with Kim. There were just a lot of public conversations about how she felt about the show.
"I’ve spent a lot of years working really hard to always be decent to everybody on the set, to take care of people, to be responsible to and for people, both my employers and the people that I feel I’m responsible for as a producer of the show.
“And there just isn’t anyone else who’s ever talked about me this way."

During her appearance at Glamour Women of the Year ceremony, Kim made a comment many fans interpreted as her throwing shade at her former SATC cast members.
When accepting the award for Screen Icon, Kim said: "This is what happens when you go where you’re celebrated and not where you’re tolerated.”

Ahead of the release of season two of And Just Like That it was confirmed Kim Cattrall would be making an appearance in the new season.
According to Variety, Kim filmed her scene without interacting with any of the cast and the scene is said to be a phone conversation between herself and SJP as Carrie.
It's safe to say we cannot wait for season two of And Just Like That.

It was only a matter of time before SJP was asked about Kim Cattrall's return to the SATC universe, after her cameo in And Just Like That was announced. So, how did her co-star take it?
The actor told MailOnline it had been "really fun, exciting and certainly nostalgic", adding that Cattrall's return had been "a lot of joy." She continued, "We've been really thoughtful about the ways in which we've, you know, approached characters that hadn't been around, the ways we have invited actors back."
Kristen Davies, who plays Charlotte, added of Samantha Jones' return: "I don't know that we're even trying for closure at this point, or resolution. I think we just thought you know, here is, you know, our character who's been gone. And we know people miss her and Carrie misses her...
"And wouldn't this be great to have a little bit of her, you know, that's what we wanted. And then I think maybe hopes have been lifted, possibly higher than that. And that was not our intention. So I hope people aren't disappointed."
