Who will Commanders play in NFC championship game? Washington advances with win vs Lions

The Commanders logo is a 'W' and apparently for good reason.

Washington keeps winning, this time taking down the top-seeded Lions in Detroit on Saturday night, 45-31.

One week after winning their first playoff game since the 2005 season, they have advanced to their first NFC championship game since the 1991 season. It's been a miraculous turnaround for the team that won just four games a year ago.

Washington nailed their head coach and general manager hires while striking gold on drafting a rookie quarterback. Jayden Daniels looks calm, cool and collected all game long in every situation. Despite being overmatched on paper, Washington had other ideas on the field as they wrote the next chapter in what's become a great underdog story.

Now they'll turn their attention to next week. With a win, Daniels can become the first rookie quarterback to start a Super Bowl.

Washington gets an extra day of rest heading into the game, having the benefit of watching their next opponent battle on Sunday.

Here's who the Commanders will play in the NFC championship game.

Who will the Commanders play in NFC championship game?

The Commanders will play the Rams or Eagles in the NFC championship game.

Due to their status as the No. 6 seed in the NFC, Washington will be on the road regardless next week. Sunday's game in Philadelphia will determine whether they head to Los Angeles or the City of Brotherly Love.

The Commanders have seen the Eagles twice this season, splitting those previous meetings. It would be their first matchup against Sean McVay's Rams.
