Columbus To Promote Star Prospect Denton Mateychuk
The Athletic's Aaron Portzline is reporting that the Columbus Blue Jackets will call up defenseman Denton Mateychuk from the Cleveland Monsters.
It's not known if this promotion is due to Zach Werenski being injured on Saturday night, or some other reason. The team also put forward Juston Danforth on IR. Danforth was injured on December 10th.

Not sure what the corresponding move is, if it’s Zach Werenski related or not.— Aaron Portzline (@Aportzline) December 22, 2024
Mateychuk has played in 27 games for Cleveland this season. He's scored 9 goals and has 25 points. He's currently 16th in the AHL in scoring and tied for the rookie lead on scoring as well with his 25 points.

Although not official, when he is called up, it's assumed he will slot right into the lineup, as the CBJ have no extra defenseman right now due to Fabbro being out.
Jet Greaves has also been called back up.
