Columbus Blue Jackets Prospect Scores A Hat Trick Helping Ottawa Snap a Seven-Game Losing Streak
The Ottawa 67's snapped a seven-game losing streak last night by defeating the Sudbury Wolves 6-3. The win is the team's first since defeating Kingston on Oct. 6.
Columbus Blue Jackets prospect and 67's captain Luca Pinelli led his team to victory by recording a hat trick.
Pinelli got the scoring started just 30 seconds into the game, firing a rocket of a wrist shot far side on Finn Marshall off the draw.
Just three minutes later, he blasted another wrist shot past Marshall on the powerplay to give Ottawa the 2-0 lead.
The captain finished off the hat trick in the third period by one-timing Henry Mews' pass into the back of the net.
With 10 goals and three assists this season, Pinelli currently leads the 67'ss in goals and points. The 2005-born forward did the same thing last year scoring 42 goals and a total of 82 points.
Pinelli has been one of Ottawa's bright spots during a difficult start to the season. Last night's hat trick is already his second this season having scored three goals against North Bay earlier this month.
Without a doubt, Pinelli is one of the top goal-scorers in the league due to his elite shot. If he maintains his current pace, he will score 61 goals this season smashing his career high 48 from last season.
The team currently sits ninth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 4-6-1-1. The 6-3 win over Sudbury ties the season series at one and gives Ottawa a critical two points. The Eastern Conference standings are still incredibly tight at this point in the season. If Ottawa can go on a tear they could quickly climb the standings.
