Let's look at the players that have worn the number.

Who Wore It First?

  • Blake Bellefeuille - Played in 5 games over two seasons from during 01-02 and 02-03 seasons. He had one career point and averaged just over 7 minutes of ice time. He last played for the Charlotte Checkers when they were in the ECHL in 2007-08. He also played for the world-famous Danbury Trashers in 2004-05.

Who Wore It Last?

  • Boone Jenner - Jenner played in 58 games last season, missing games due to a broken jaw, and for personal reasons. He had 22 goals and totaled 35 points. He finished second on the team with 22 goals and was fourth in points.

Who Wore It Best?

  • Boone Jenner - Jenner leads the CBJ in games played and seasons played in Columbus. He sits third in goals (192) but only needs 22 to move into second. His 172 assists are 6th, but with 33 assists, he could move into 3rd. His 364 points are third, and with 38 points next season could move into second. He also needs 2 powerplay goals to move into second. All of these are led by Rick Nash.

Others That Have Worn #38

  • Andrej Nedorost - Drafted by Columbus in 2000, Nedorost spent three seasons in Columbus from 2001-04. He played 28 games and had 5 points. He left North America in 2004 and returned to Europe, where he played until 2015.

  • Jan Hrdina - Drafted by Pittsburgh in 1995, Hrdina played one season in 2005-06. He played 75 games and had 33 points. After his season in Columbus, he returned to Europe and never played another NHL game.

  • Joakim Lindström - Drafted by Columbus in 2002, he played in 37 career games for the Blue Jackets. He had 8 points in Columbus before moving on to Phoenix. He left North America in 2009 for Europe, where he would play until 2023.

  • Trevor Frischmon - Frischmon played 3 career NHL games, all for Columbus, and had 0 points. He never played another NHL game after his time in Columbus and finished his career in England.

The Blue Jackets have 38 days until opening night in Columbus. There are still a ton of questions to be answered leading into the season, but one thing is for sure - Boone Jenner is one of the best players to put on the Union Blue. His leadership will be needed this season and players will be leaning on him to help them through everything that is going on. But if there's one man that can help them, it's Boone Jenner.
