Colorado Avalanche Assign Chris Wagner To AHL
The Colorado Avalanche have assigned forward Chris Wagner to the Colorado Eagles, the team announced Wednesday.
Wagner, a product of Walpole, Mass., has split time between the Eagles and the Avs this season, putting up one goal in 24 NHL games and 11 points in 16 AHL games.
A 2010 fifth round pick of the Anaheim Ducks, Wagner has played in 397 career NHL regular season games for the Avalanche, Ducks, Boston Bruins and the New York Islanders. Over that span, he has 39 goals and 27 assists for 66 points.
With Wagner being assigned back to the AHL, he will try to prove that he deserves another shot at the NHL level. Although the stats have regressed this year, Wagner has proven to be a reliable depth player in the past and could be thrust back into a similar role if the Avs get hit with injuries.
