College football scores, games, updates: No. 6 Texas A&M, No. 8 Notre Dame fall as upsets pile up
A relatively unassuming slate of college football games has turned into chaos as two top 10 teams were upset at home against unranked Group of Five opponents.
No. 6 Texas A&M was stunned by Appalachian State 17-14 in College Station shortly after No. 8 Notre Dame fell to Marshall in South Bend.
Suddenly, two teams that entered the season with playoff aspirations are left with a lot of questions to answer.
And just to add more spice to the day, 19th-ranked Wisconsin lost at home to heavy underdog Washington State.
Beyond the top 25 upsets, we also also saw double-digit favorite Nebraska suffer a 45-42 loss to Georgia Southern. Along with App State and Marshall, Georgia Southern became the third Sun Belt team to pull a road upset against Power Five opponent on the day.
This all came after No. 1 Alabama narrowly escaped a big upset loss to Texas, eventually winning 20-19. It turned out the drama wasn't over.
