Cole Palmer names the toughest opponent he’s come up against in his career
Cole Palmer is very much the man of the moment and in a recent interview Chelsea’s main man revealed the toughest opponent he’s come up against.
Everything Palmer’s touched has pretty much turned to gold since he joined from Manchester City in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth £42.5m.
The 22-year-old’s rise to the top of the game has been meteoric and he’s now established himself as arguably the best player in the Premier League and one of the best in the world.
Palmer reveals his toughest opponent
The England international had an incredible breakout season under Mauricio Pochettino, scoring 22 goals and providing 11 assists.
The question on everyone’s mind heading into this season is whether Palmer could do it again, and with seven goals and five assists in the first nine games you wouldn’t bet against him.
The attacker has got so much quality and just makes everything look so easy on the pitch, with Alan Shearer saying he looks like he’s playing in the park with his mates.
Palmer is receiving more attention from the opposition this season and some teams have tried to man mark him and double up on him during games to minimise his impact.
He recently finished 25th in the rankings for this year’s Ballon d’Or, with many surprised he wasn’t higher, but club legend Gianfranco Zola has tipped him as a future winner.
Palmer has given defenders nightmares since his move to Stamford Bridge, but in a recent quick fire questions segment with Chelsea’s in house media team he revealed Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk as his toughest opponent.
