Cole Kmet had the most hilarious reaction to learning he had to long snap vs. Jaguars

The Chicago Bears signed long snapper Scott Daly during training camp to fill in for an injured Patrick Scales, who remains on injured reserve. But Daly went down with a knee injury on the Bears' second punt of the their Week 6 35-16 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, which opened the door for an unsuspecting hero.

The Bears emergency long snapper was tight end Cole Kmet. Matt Eberflus said that Kmet practice long snapping every Thursday, but Kmet was still in shock that he'd have to do it in game.

Following the game, Kmet detailed how he found out he was going to be serving as the long snapper for the duration of the game, and it was hilarious.

Richard Hightower: "Hey Cole, Scott's hurt."

Kmet: "Tyler Scott?"

Hightower: "No, Scott Daly. You have to long snap."

Kmet: "Oh... oh s***."

Despite the unsure — and pretty comical — reaction from Kmet, everything went pretty smooth on special teams. The Bears didn't have to punt again but made all of their extra points with Kmet snapping, although Cairo Santos missed his lone field goal attempt — which was a solid snap from Kmet, but the kick was blocked at the line. On top of long snapping, Kmet led the Bears with 70 receiving yards and caught two touchdowns from quarterback Caleb Williams.

Hopefully with a Week 7 bye, Daly can get his knee healthy enough to play against the Washington Commanders -- or the Bears will find a viable replacement. But if worse comes to worst, it's good to know your swiss army knife of a tight end can fill in and succeed.
