Cole Kmet frustrated by Bears' lack of execution during losing streak
The losses continue to stockpile for the Chicago Bears this season, as they've now lost eight straight after a Monday Night beatdown by the Minnesota Vikings. While fans and media shift their focus to the upcoming moves and busy offseason that the Bears will have to address from coaching changes and roster makeup, players on the team are showing their frustration with the lack of execution on the field.
Speaking to reporters after the loss on Monday, tight end Cole Kmet expressed his frustration with the lack of execution, and even brought the focus onto himself as he looks to keep doing what he needs to. Kmet's frustration is obvious, he had one target for a 14-yard completion in the game, making it the fifth time this season in which he has been targeted once or not at all.
"Think what I've learned through it all, you've got to be on your own s---," Kmet said. "Trying to get other guys to do certain things or other people to do certain things, it takes away from your preparation. So you've gotta take care of your own s---, and just do your job. If other guys aren't doing their job, that's on them. At the end of the day, you got to take care of your job, and do what you got to do, prepare the right way. We obviously haven't executed clean enough and usually that's what it comes down to in these NFL games."
Even if others are not doing their jobs around him, Kmet said he's learned that he's got to take care of his responsibilities while the team is failing in their ability to execute.
“You’ve gotta take care of your own sh*t … and if other people aren’t doing their job, that’s on them.”

A clearly frustrated Kmet sounds like most players on the team right now when it comes to discussing the lack of execution. He wasn't alone, as wide receiver DJ Moore spoke postgame about not knowing if there's a lack of effort or a lack of execution. With three games remaining, the focus for the players on the field should be to find a way to execute at a more successful rate, which could in turn end their losing streak.
