Cole Kmet compares Caleb Williams to rival NFC North quarterbacks

With the three other teams in the NFC North thriving and preparing for the playoffs, the Chicago Bears are quite a distance away from their divisional competition.

In the current makeup of the NFL, team success is directly related to the quarterback of winning teams, that's why Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions, Sam Darnold of the Minnesota Vikings and Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers have all been praised this season.

The other teams in the NFC North have all been propelled by their quarterback play, meanwhile the Bears are hoping that rookie Caleb Williams can be the answer to a decades long search for their franchise quarterback. On paper, Williams has had a fantastic rookie season when looking at his individual stats, but it's the overall lack of success for the team that has taken over the narrative of this season.

When asked by the media this week about his rookie quarterback compared to the rest of the division, tight end Cole Kmet believes experience will be the factor that takes him to the next level. Set to play all 17 games in his first season in the NFL, Williams will be the first Bears quarterback to play in every game in a season since Jay Cutler in 2009.

"Obviously they have more experience and experience at that position is huge," Kmet said of Goff, Darnold and Love. While Kmet praised Williams' "supernatural" playmaking ability, he said, "You can't replace experience."

Not only will Williams have a full season of experience under his belt, but he'll also have an entire new coaching staff to help him prepare for the 2025 season and continue his development. Kmet also believes that with a faster and cleaner operation, there will be even more success for Williams in his future.

"When the operation comes faster and cleaner ... you'll see more of those explosive plays," Kmet said.

Williams' level of talent can not be denied but if he can progress in his fundamentals this offseason, the Bears could see more team success as well as more success for their hopeful franchise quarterback.
