Cole Kmet: Bears offense has taken huge step back

The Chicago Bears had a second straight horrid showing from their offense in their third consecutive loss this past Sunday. In a 19-3 loss to the New England Patriots, the Bears failed to score an offensive touchdown for a second straight game, and the offense, that seemed to have figured it out before their bye week, has been beyond flat since getting back into action.

One of the main weapons on the offense, tight end Cole Kmet, who has seen his usage and targets go down drastically, was brutally honest about how far the unit has taken a step back. Due to the offense's regression as well as the three-game losing streak, the team chose to fire offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, naming Thomas Brown as his replacement.

Speaking to the media in the locker room after the loss, Kmet said the offense has taken a "really big step back" over the last three games.

"Not where we envision ourselves at this point and time, especially coming off the bye, how we were feeling at that point," Kmet said. "We definitely offensively speaking, have taken a pretty big step back. We got to find ways to claw back here and get back to at least where we were before the bye week."

The team will have to wait and see what change, if any, Brown does for their offense, but there's undoubtedly a sense of urgency to turn things around to close out the season on a good note. But it won't be easy with the Green Bay Packers on deck for Week 11, a team they haven't beaten since Dec. 2018.
