Coincidence Or Fate? Sharks Host Canucks On Exact Date Of 10-1 Loss

The San Jose Sharks are hosting the Vancouver Canucks exactly one year after the Canucks defeated the Sharks 10-1.

Vancouver came to San Jose in 2023 and played the first of what would become back-to-back games in which San Jose gave up ten goals.

The Canucks are coming off a 6-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils and know that a lopsided game can happen to anyone.

"We lost 6-0 the other night. I know we won 10-1, but some teams have lost 8-1," Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet told THN. "In this league, you have to bounce back, and you can't worry about that stuff."

The Sharks have a much different roster from last season and are currently on a three-game win streak.

"Can we learn from our mistakes and continue to get better and push the envelope from where we need to go as an organization of being ultra-competitive in each and every one of our games," Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky said. "Can we get better defensively? It's something that we've talked about here the last couple of days. I think our guys are excited about it. [It is a] Saturday night in the Shark Tank, and let's get some energy going. We're excited for this matchup."

The Sharks will start goalie Mackenzie Blackwood for the second straight game. Timothy Liljegren, acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs on Oct. 30, will make his team debut and skate with Henry Thrun.
