Coach Dawn Staley channeled the metallics trend during the 2024 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament National Championship on Sunday in Cleveland. Staley saw her team, the North Carolina Gamecocks, defeat the Iowa Hawkeyes and take home their third winning title.
Staley sported a silver Louis Vuitton jacket along with logo sneakers from the label’s recent collaboration with rapper Tyler, the Creator. She also added on a pair of black sweatpants and jeweled hoop earrings.

“I’m so incredibly happy for our players,” Staley told ESPN following the Gamecocks’ win. “It doesn’t always end like you want it to end, much like last year.”
In 2023, Iowa defeated South Carolina in the Final Four. Since then, however, the latter team hasn’t lost a game.
“I’m super proud of where I work, I’m super proud of our fans — It’s awesome. It’s awesome. It’s unbelievable,” Staley added.
The coach also congratulated Iowa’s Catilin Clark, who broke scoring records among NCAA Division I players, both women and men, last month as part of the championship.

“I want to personally thank Caitlin Clark for lifting up our sport,” Staley said. “She carried a heavy load for our sport. And it’s just — it’s not going to stop here on the collegiate tour, but when she is the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft, she’s going to lift that league up as well.”
Tyler, the Creator’s Louis Vuitton capsule debuted in February. He teamed up with the label’s men’s creative director, Pharrell Williams, to release a line of apparel, accessories and collectibles.
Metallics are poised for popularity this spring after designers like Alberta Ferretti, Balmain and Blumarine sent shades of silver, gold and bronze down the runway. Stars at January’s Golden Globe Awards also partook in the fad, with Naomi Watts, Anya Taylor-Joy and Issa Rae opting for brilliant palettes.
