CM: ‘Regardless of market developments’ – Cardinale sees Theo renewal as ‘essential’
Despite a poor start to the season, Theo Hernandez’s contract renewal is still vital for AC Milan, and Gerry Cardinale wants to wrap up an extension.
This has been Theo’s worst season in a Milan shirt so far. Performances have dropped, as have his mental levels, and it seems he could be heading for a third straight game among the substitutes tomorrow against Roma.
The Frenchman’s struggles have not just been seen (or felt) in Milano, instead, they have reached his National team, with Didier Deschamps equally baffled about his drop, whilst also trying to offer remedies to getting the left-back back to himself.
Fonseca, seemingly, is trying to lower the pressure on Theo, showing that the Rossoneri can still perform without him, and offering him a slight break in the process – even if he is still available from the bench if required – like he was for the Verona game.
Despite his presence on the pitch dropping, the club still view an extension as ‘essential’ and this motive is spearheaded by the owner, Gerry Cardinale.
According to Calciomercato.com, the American thinks that his deal should be extended ‘regardless of market developments’, if nothing else to ensure that Milan get the maximum amount for the player, or offer him the support, and trust, of the club to improve whilst remaining.
